Just a quick post today, 'cause I'm pretty busy.  The sun is shining and so before it gets too cold, I'm out in the gardens helping my mum.

INSIDE - This piece of ECHO PARK paper is from the very top of the sheet that you cut off... you know the bit with the hole in it.  I decided, waste not want not and re-purposed it for the inside, where the hole is I've placed three gems.

Hello April...

Well I've finally got around to posting... its been a busy few days.  Easter is now over, disco, bingo, scavenger hunt and egg hunt all being a great success, even if the weather did its utmost to put a spanner in the works!

 

Being part of the tourist industry, we rely heavily on good weather to draw in our customers... what can I say?  If its not snowing, the east wind is blowing up a gale!  It is bitterly cold here (rain we're used to... this cold?  We are not!). Needless to say some of our customers stayed away... tucked up warmly in there little houses instead of risking frost frozen caravans with no water ('cause it had frozen, and no amount of heating was gonna make it run again!).  Anyway we did have the 'die-hard' intrepides, who simply weren't prepared to miss out (water or no water), these wonderful people braved the cold, and helped children find eggs; managed to collect various obscure items on their scavenger list; danced the night away and shouted 'bingo' with the best of 'um!  Thank you one and all for keeping me in employment!

 

My son also had his 22nd birthday (celebrated by his sister and I going shopping  and lunching- WITHOUT HIM!), he didn't seem to mind though as I treated him to a take-away indian meal.  He said he'd rather stay home and tackle the giant Lindt bunny I bought him for his birthday present.

 

The Grand National was run yesterday (well done Auroras Encore! 66/1 winner), so the sweepstake needed to be organised (which I did NOT win).  Its my step-father's birthday, so later today we will be celebrated with a family meal out... can't wait, carvery here I come!

 

As you can read, I've not had a lot of time to craft (but I have managed to squeeze in the odd fix, here and there), I thought I'd just give you a quick up-date and post some pictures of the mini cards my daughter asked me to make, she wanted four cards (2 x boys, 2x girls) for the children who are leaving her care (nursery), to start school, here's what I came up with...

Firstly I'd like to thank the Design Team at MY PAPER CRAFTS WORLD, thank you for choosing my (humble) little card as one of your 'Top Three Chefs', (I feel like I'm at the Oscars, LOL), I'd like to thank... sorry getting a bit carried carried away!  The 'Outreach' challenge was really fun to do, its always nice to be able to offer comfort and encouragement to other people.  Check out the fun challenges and see for yourselves...

Today's card is as follows...

 

The little carrot and flower have been cut out using my Cricut Expression, both cuts are from the 'CREATE-A-CRITTER' cartridge (possibly my fav. of all time).  The sentiment 'Have a 24 carrot day' has been generated (posh word!) on my computer and the birthday sentiment is a glitter peel-off.  Underneath the cream faux stitched mat I have stuck various strips of patterned paper (off-cuts from my ever growing stash), its a great way to use up some of those really loved papers that we are loathed to throw away!

In this case it equals the Cardz TV Kidz Cardz Challenge (#24) of 3, 3x3 valentine cards for kids...

 

I found some card blanks in my stash in a very pretty pink and white (these were VERY, VERY old) I matted and layered some pink cricut paper and pink My Minds Eye paper on to the card blanks and then made up some fun cricut toppers.  I wanted to keep to the Valentines theme so I made my layers from black, white, pink and red.  The addition of some extra sparkle in the form of glitter, pearls and 'candi' completed their look. I think they turned out rather well. I think I will enter this into Little Scrap Pieces challenge as well, since its all about 'Love is in the Air'.

This & That... charming

Hello there craft peeps...

I hope your day is going great!

 

I decided today I would post this little 'daddy' card.  The backgound paper (with all the numbers) is from an Echo Park 6x6 paper pad called This & That 'Charming', its a super paper pad for male cards.  The colours are in lovely shades of greens, yellows and browns with some great manly themes, and its all double sided, i love this pad...

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anyway... this is what I made...

 

As I said the background paper is from Echo Pad and the giraffes are cut using my cricut expression with the CREATE-A-CRITTER cartridge, the sentiment "A father is someone you can look up to /No matter how tall you grow" was printed out using my computer.  The cm tape was an old one (that had been stretched over time and so could no longer be used to measure accurately, so it got recycled, here!), I believe you can get  'washi tape' that has measurements on it, but since I haven't got any... I had to improvise!

Broadband Challenged!

Oh but I'm having SERIOUS issues with picking up a decent internet signal at the moment... It is SO fustrating.  I'm sure we've all experienced it... the little circle that continues to spin, and spin and spin and... you get the picture! In fustration we switch off altogether, only to log on again 2 minutes later in the hope that some miracle has occured to clear the way for a trouble free surfing fix!  I'm having no such luck, my circle has spun so much I'm positively dizzy, just looking at it.  Anyway enough of the rant... lookie here...

 

 

What do you think? My friend (yes I do have some... I don't spend all of my time on my laptop!), is feeling poorly.  I put this together this afternoon, but before I sent it off I photo'ed it to enter the following challenges (did I mention I've become a 'challenge addict'!). Just Call Me Mystic Meg!

 

As predicted the clubhouse is VERY quiet, well the weather is bad (rain... surprised?) and the darts team is away... good luck boys (we're gonna need it!).

 

Well I'm afraid the cold got the better of me and I didn't finish my card project of the day!  Unlike so many very, very talented people out there... I am not a never-ending font of inspiration, I do not reel out cards and/or projects like the proverbial machine gun.  I have SO much stuff (you know, crafting goodies so DESPERATELY needed at the time, but then promptly shoved out the way), that very often I forget what I've got - ever been there? - so I go trawling through it all... then (I have to say) get very distracted - I have a very short attention span, it would seem!

 

You would think that over the years of motherhood I would have gained a better developed grasp of the concentration needed for everyday life... but alas no!  Instead of children making me more aware of my surroundings, I fear they have managed to erode what little brain I had in the first place.  Wonderful, though it was, after bandaging the upteenth knee or kissing the millionth scrap; after trying to fathom long division and the need for trigonometry; and after trying to explain safe sex and how to use the washing machine, the stuff in my cranium appears to have given up some of its fight and simply accepted that it is, very often, better to just switch off and 'go with the flow'.  The result of which is that I do not accept that I have a short attention span due to my advancing age, oh no!  But because my delightful children have helped me establish a laid-back approach to life.

 

Just so you don't get too bored, listening to me ramble on... here's a card a made awhile ago, I used some free papers from a craft magazine, the fire was from a cricut cartridge and the face was a peachy keen stamp... cute init!

 

 

 

Gotta go, laptop is failing... it's just about run out of juice and I've gotta pour a few more pints...  nightie, night crafters...
