U R Amazing

Hello Again...

I made a card today... oh yes I did...

A few bits and pieces from my SCRAPTASTIC kit and some sewing and hey presto!  A shame photography isn't my strong point!  You'd of thought an inanimate object wouldn't prove too difficult, wouldn't you?  Oh well... challenges...

Egg-ward

My niece always calls her brother 'Egg-ward' rather than Edward (why? I've no idea, but she does!), so I thought I would immortalise this with a scrapbook layout...

Created using the SCRAPTASTIC June 2014 Kit 'Best Day Of My Life.

MAGICAL day

My brother was invited to a wedding, being divorce and happily unattached he decided to invite Annabelle as his 'PLUS-ONE'... his (eight year old) daughter.

The wedding was beautiful (I didn't actually experience it first hand... I got the short straw and was asked to look after my nephew for the day.  My straw wasn't all that short though, because we managed to have a lovely day!)

Anyway, back to the wedding.  Daimon and Emma got married in their local church, in the late afternoon and held a small reception by the river.  The food (according to my brother) was a 5-course extravaganza with champagne and bucks fizz, there was just a small band playing background music and as soon as the sun had set... a barge floated passed on the river and released hundreds of fireworks!  As Annabelle was about to leave, she went to the bride (making her day) and told her that the day had been "MAGICAL".  Annabelle's first wedding was a resounding success, creating beautiful memories for her to cherish.  Naturally, I had to make a layout to preserve this lovely memory... luckily I'd managed to take a photograph of my brother and niece before they departed for their day out.

I'm loving the colours and patterned papers in this June 2014 SCRAPTASTIC kit 'Best Day Of My Life', but I am finding it fairly hard to get them to be as cohesive as I'd like!  And although I 'm quite please with how this turned out, I had to spend ALOT of time trying to decide what would work with what!  Challenging!

HAPPY CRAFTING...

Warriors

I'm afraid I'm a little stuck on buying things at the moment (and I really don't need anything!)... been there, done that?  I'm supposed to be on a 'spending freeze', hah... its not going so well! Is crafting an addition?  'Cause I have a problem!

My brain is saying "you don't need that", my inner crafting devil is saying "ooohh, I need that".  My bank account is in the red and my inner crafting devil's answer? "Isn't that pretty".  What can I say? I have never been the most disciplined of people, but I MUST stop buying all the latest papers, no really I must.  I came across this 12 step program to help... let's hope it does!

The Scrapbooker’s 12 Step Program!

by Nicole Humphrey

1.    When leaving home, always vow that you won’t end up at a local scrapbook store or other craft store. Repeat these words, “I have too many supplies, and I will not buy anymore. I have to use what I have. Unless of course, there is a great sale and a new product I just have to try!”

2.    Rearrange all your scrapbook supplies in your area so that there is no room to put anymore stuff in without having to buy new organization.

3.    Always wear clothes with pockets when leaving home in case you should end up at a local scrapbook store or other craft store – this is so that you’ll always have a place to keep your hands at all times – this ensures that you will not handle the pretty papers and play with all the fun tools. Might want to keep a washcloth in there too, to wipe up any drool that accumulates from your wishful thinking.

4.    Never, ever, ever, obey the request of a sales lady to “Feel free to try out the different scrapbook tools!” Crops can be bad too. That’s where some of my greatest, UNUSED tools stemmed from!

5.    Never make eye contact with a sales lady. Never look directly at the papers.

6.    Always take your spouse or a friend with you if you can’t resist going to a local scrapbook store or craft outlet, they can remind you that you don’t need anymore supplies!!

7.    Never pick up or subscribe to a scrapbook trade magazine. This can be hazardous to your health, and the health of your family. They may look innocent, but the magazines are full of the newest supplies and they WILL call out to you! Before you know it, you will have all those products sitting there collecting dust!

8.    Do not look at all your supplies before leaving the house as they will remind you that you don’t have the latest and greatest trendy stuff!

9.    Don’t dress poorly in hopes that store owners won’t trust your check or credit card, Scrapbooker’s are typically honest people and it won’t work! Many of us just don’t dress that great every time we leave the house because we are mothers, wives and busy all the time! This is not a good method!

10.  Do not rely on prayer alone to help as, God loves memories too. After all, He is the creator of many!

11.  Promise yourself that you will look at every patterned paper before buying any. This may slow you down a bit. And make the decision a little harder!

12.  Never, ever touch a computer and especially not one that connects to the Internet! There are all kinds of scrapbooking websites and online stores in there just waiting for you.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha...

I'd like to share my latest scrapbook page with you... its made using the June 2014 SCRAPTASTIC kit and features my niece and nephew at their Tae Kwon Do grading.  They are only eight and five, but they have both benefitted enormously from this hobby?/sport?/discipline?...

Happy buying Crafting!

Seven... Eleven

I've not been around lately... LIFE, don'tcha know!  I had VER testing (brainwaves? optical nerves?) and a lumbar puncture, so I've been feeling a little delicate!

Anyway... I still haven't killed my SCRAPTASTIC May kit... but I'm definitely getting there!

I made another 'pull and stand' card (this kit is old, old, old) with some of the smaller bits of paper from this kit as well as another layout (number eleven).

My card (nice and simple - just my style)...

<--- front

<--- back after you - 'pull' and 'stand'

Now for my layout, Seven... Eleven, I've called this 'Seven Facts' and is the eleventh layout from this kit, I've added a piece of pink CS from my stash, as well as a piece of acetate ( actually it was a piece of overhead projector transparency from a box of them that I picked up at the local recycling unit... 50 for £1.50, even though they buckled a bit going through the laser printer, I still used it!), other than that the rest of the supplies (apart from the glitter) is from the SCRAPTASTIC May kit...

Trying To Be A Killer!

I'm trying very hard to 'kill' my May SCRAPTASTIC kit before my next one arrives!  But to be honest, with all the little bits and pieces that came with this kit ('The Story I Heard)... I really don't think I'm going to manage!  Still... never, say never!

Layout NINE...

So as I do more and more scrapbooking, my personal style is beginning to emerge.  Apparently I like to have a plain background for most of my layouts, but occasional I'll find a patterned paper that I want to use (as with this layout, however I couldn't resist a little wet embossing!).  I still love to make cards, but I'm finding scrapbooking is a very personal way to craft... as every photograph holds something very dear and VERY personal.  Along with PL (PROJECT LIFE - which I love), I'm afraid my card-making is taking a back seat, at least for this leg of my journey!  HAPPY CRAFTING...

The Story I Heard... number eight

This is my eighth layout using the May SCRAPTASTIC kit, I'm now expecting my June kit to arrive any day now, and I've still not 'killed' this kit yet... there are still SO many papers and embellishments to use before this kit is anywhere near 'killed'!  BUT I'M GETTING THERE!!!

I also put together this card using up some of the smaller bits of patterned paper and some of the embellies...
