Late Night Crafting?

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Good Morning peeps...

I'm sure we've all done it, crafted into the wee hours thinking we've done a great job, just to get up in the morning and look at our creation, to discover it is not the masterpiece we thought!  The trouble is... late at night, usually, the light is simply not good enough to accurately judge colours, so very often what you thought was a deep pink turns out to be a coral, and doesn't match the rest of your project!  Done that... been there!  But when the ideas strike, somehow 'sense' take a vacation, and we carry on regardless!

Yes, I crafted late last night!

I got up this morning to realise my two cards, although simple and sweet, are slightly 'off'.  The embellishments, namely the round epoxy gems are just not right!  I'm very glad now, that I didn't put any stamping on the inside (even though my new STAMPIN UP inks are calling very loudly to me).  These two little babies will probably end up as little notelets I occasionally send out to friends and family just to say 'HI'...

The papers are from an old (old, old, old, second-hand {I'm not too proud}) SIZZIX paper stack, the glitter tape is from AMERICAN CRAFTS (this is super sparkly, but doesn't shed) and anything else is from my stash (including the iridescent sequin string, very old and I have tons of it!)... as I said it was late and so I grabbed whatever was within reach!

You Rang?

Hello,

I'd like to celebrate the following....

<  I'm Alive  >

I made this layout following the brief on the SCRAPTASTIC blog - appropriate really considering I'm using my SCRAPTASTIC May kit!  'The Story I Heard'...

The challenge - 'use a grid design'...

So the story behind this layout is pretty simple... My brother rang me and said he'd posted a load of photos on facebook of my delightful niece and nephew.  They had been to 'Pittville Park' in Cheltenham and he'd actually remembered to take some photos... and some GREAT photos they were too!

I tried to keep a tone-on-tone theme for anything that wasn't a photo, which wasn't too hard since there are so many embellies in this kit.

Not too sure about the colours I chose for the border of this square, but its too late now!

I'm thinking of adding another embellishment here... there are some lovely bows in the kit, which will match the tone-on-tone design perfectly.

I just LOVE this photo!

Seriously... why would he?

Second post of the day... whoop, whoop I'm on a roll (probably rolling down hill from now on!).  I fancied a little colouring today so out came my (very old, cheapie EBay bargain) Crafters Companion stamps.

This one says "a little bird told me..." but really even if the bird could talk, how would he know its your birthday and why would he want to tell someone anyway... just saying!  But I digress... my card is made by stamping directly onto a card blank and then colouring it in using promarkers, I added a little bit of blink in the bottom corner (£1 shop purchase!) and on the inside, which has also benefited from my (iffy) stamping, in the form of the words "its you birthday".  Here completes todays card...

The Story I Heard

So this is the first page I made with my new SCRAPTASTIC kit (May 2014), the kit is called 'The Story I Heard' and is the most wonderful combination of colours and patterns.  I'm also VERY impressed with the amount of embellishments that are in the kit and the service and communication from SCRAPTASTIC has been outstanding (long may it continue!).

I felt at times that I'd been waiting and waiting (and stalking the poor postman) for my kit to arrive, when in actuality it was just about on time - since we'd also had a bank holiday, and that always effects the arrival of the post!

But what happened when it arrived?

I found that it was impossible to cut up the papers (I'm so weird!) and all I wanted to do... was look at them!  After discussing this online (Scraptastic page on facebook) I discovered I was not alone in my madness... so comforting to know!

The story behind this photo has now been documented on my layout and when (in years to come) my family look back at this memory, hopefully it will invoke a rush of other great thoughts of our times together...

A Bargain?

Hello Everyone...

Is there anything worse than missing out on a bargain?

I mean, its a bit of a 'head-rush' when you find something you really want (did you notice how I said 'want' not 'need', as a crafter I sometimes get a little confused between the two words and their meanings!).  Not only do you find what you want, but you look (and look again) and can't believe the great price!  It doesn't happen often, but this is exactly what happened to me.  I found some great ink pads at an amazing price... did I grab them? You're darn right I grabbed them - with both hands , outstretched!

PROBLEM? Oh yeah...

The catalogue had made an error... in actuality the great price... wasn't!  Gutted or what!  So bargain missed :-(

I made a couple of cards and did a couple of weeks of my PROJECT LIFE this week, I'm quite impressed with myself actually, because... 1. we've been fairly busy on the caravan park 2. my health is deteriorating and 3. I took time-out to clean my craft room (oh yes I did!  And what a task that was!).

I decided to work on some of my scraps this week (the pile is growing, so I either need to purge {as in throw away}, or use).  I covered the front of this red card blank with whatever I could find (in this case the stripped paper is from - anyone's guess, as is the heart vellum and the blue paper is from an old SIZZIX stack), the two bikes are the left-over die-cuts from my SCRAPTASTIC kit.  With a little bit of stamping, my card is complete!

What can I say... I don't have a clue where this paper is from (maybe, a cheap 6x6 from 'the works')!  The blue CS, I think is from PAPERMANIA.  I used a Martha Stewart punch, some bling and a very old butterfly embellishment.

The stamp is from SCRAPTASTIC - 'Worth Wondering' kit - it says "make your own sunshine" (don't rely on non-existent bargains LOL).

My two cards for this week and now my PL (not this weeks)...

I thought I'd show you weeks 1 and 2 of 2014...

Week 1, page 1

Week 1, page 2

Week 2, page 1

Week 2, page 2

So there we have it... my creative genius...hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Album One

Hello Y'all...

At some point I hope to share some more of my PROJECT LIFE album with you, but I couldn't resist sharing the completion of my first album, 'arse about face' I know but I'm just so pleased with myself!!!

I've been PL'ing since last year, every week I get my photos printed and place them in my page protectors along with journaling and embellishments.  I was hoping to fit a years worth of PL into two albums... I didn't manage it.  This first album has a total of 21 weeks along with various inserts, if a particular week had extra 'stuff' going on (like Christmas and/or birthdays).

Here's some pics...

And that's my 'show & tell' for today!  Now I've got to go out and buy more albums, even though I'm supposed to be on a spending 'freeze'... but 'needs must'!  It's not MY fault CREATEANDCRAFT.TV has got a sale of PL stuff at the moment! he he he...

Never Too Old For Love

Good Evening (here in the UK, anyway)... I hope you're having a fab day and looking forward to a wonderful weekend.

I'd like to share a couple of things with you today, firstly a scrapbook layout I did following a sketch and  secondly a little card I whipped up just now.

The sketch layout is from LETS GET SKETCHY, the DT there... are fabulous!  The sketch is...

MY TAKE...

My Uncle Roy with his beautiful Filipino bride.

I used a variety of bits from my stash for this layout - the background paper is from AMERICAN CRAFTS AMY TANGERINE 'Yes, Please' collection, the other papers are from FIRST EDITION 'Dreamcatcher; DOCRAFTS FOREVER FRIENDS 'Kraft Notes'.  I also found some heart vellum (both for a mat and as the banners at the top of the page, which are held in place with a couple of paper clips); also I embossed (then sanded back) a piece of CORE'DINATIONS 'Black Magic' in teal.  For embellishment, I used some mists (splattered here and there), a doily and a large fabric flower by TERESA COLLINS 'Fabrications' collection.  I am 'well pleased' with how this turned out and I will be placing it in a 12x12 page protector and putting it in my family album. Thanks LETS GET SKETCHY for the inspiration!

Now for my card...

Just a quick little number I knocked up from the bits and pieces I had floating around on my craft desk!  The vellum background is the same as I used with the layout above, except I punched the corners with a MARTHA STEWART punch.  The border strip and gems are  VERY old finds from the local £ shop, as are the black doily shapes and flower strips.  The rosette and sentiment are both from the AMERICAN CRAFTS AMY TANGERINE 'Yes, Please' collection.  5 minute card - whoop, whoop!

Lumbar Puncture!

I have health issues (who doesn't... right?)... not something I usually want the general public to know, but today I am frustrated!  And so, I am using this as a rant platform... SORRY.

>  I am at present awaiting a lumbar puncture (lucky me... huh?).  I finally got fed up with the wait and so decided to become a nuisance (at the moment I will do just about anything to hurry this along!).  So I find out the name of the secretary in charge of LP's at the hospital where it will take place (which by the way, is over fifty miles away).  Very nice lady, its gotta be said, but apparently the hospital is VERY busy and there are a number of people in front of me.

A reasonable answer you may think... until you hear - 'busy' equates to the hospital performing 12 LPs in the course of, wait for it... a DAY? ... no     ~     a WEEK? no     ~     a MONTH? no, yeah real busy this hospital!  They will manage to complete 12 LPs in approximately five months... yes, you heard me correctly FIVE MONTHS.  Until I get my LP, it cannot be established what is wrong with me (although, they have their suspicions) and a diagnosis cannot be given  ~  until I have a diagnosis I cannot get any treatment ~ until I get any treatment, I cannot get better!  FRUSTRATION!!! <   *RANT* *OVER*

I feel so much better for that!

I made a card today, after dragging out my SATURATED CANARY 'Summer' stamp.  I'm by far the best 'colourer' out there (even as a little girl I used to go over the lines!), but this colouring lark is very therapeutic and I've been in need of a little therapy lately!

'Summer'...
